You raise me up - working with consultants and mentors

Updated: Jan 29, 2020

..so I can stand on mountains,

You raise me up to walk on stormy seas

I am strong when I am on your shoulders

You raise me up to more than I can be

Throughout history, business leaders have looked to advisers, coaches or consultants. Andrew Carnegie said "No man (or woman) will make a great leader, who wants to do it all himself or to get all the credit for doing it". It pays to learn from others who may have a wider sphere of experience, or who have the time to dedicate to a very specific task.

Consultants are used by businesses for many reasons, ultimately to save time, hassle and money:

  • to be objective and bring a wider sphere of experience from the market

  • to facilitate assessments or discussions which may be uncomfortable for participants if led by in-house team members

  • to focus and get results, to get on with things especially when leadership teams are already too busy or may be prone to procrastination or have a history of struggling to make real progress

You'll probably see from the Beyond 2020 Programme that you could manage a lot of these tasks in-house. But how long would it take you? And how much time would be wasted on research in a wide range of areas where you aren't already knowledgeable?

This development programme lasts only 12 months - for the simple reason that I only have a limited amount of time to commit to each firm, and I want to be able to work with as many firms as possible, as I say "to save the accounting profession from itself!"

So I need to be focused, to get meaningful results with each firm in a time-efficient manner, to get to the stage where we can recognise we have achieved a success and then I move on. Just like Mary Poppins! Although I promise to hang around longer than just a wind change!

Invest in the programme for 12 months, and if you don't believe we have achieved success by the end of that, then I'll refund your fees. Contact me to find out what your time and cost commitment will be, and if you haven't worked with me before, check out my testimonials on the About pages .
